Xena just reminds me of the fantastically bad Hercules game on the Nintendo 64. It's honestly difficult in the video game industry to make something so janky and so baffling that it's actually fun to play and Hercules 64 is definitely an example of that. There are only a few games that fit the bill, Shadow the Hedgehog is one other that comes to mind immediately because I'm a Sonic the Hedgehog fan. It's premise, plot, and aesthetic are absolutely confusing and out of left field, especially for a Sonic game, but at the same time, it has insane replay value due to the different paths you can take, the gameplay is not nearly as glitchy as a lot of other 3D Sonic games, although it's definitely slower, and there is definitely some humor to be found in the edginess that is fully on display. Plus the multiplayer, while simple, was definitely fun.

I’d kind of argue the DS2 entry because technically the boss isn’t infinitely respawning by a simple reset. Also, wouldn’t using them kind of mess up future NG+ for some players because it makes the region even harder on following NG+?

This might not count but in skull : the hero slayer, when the first hero's god form is defeated, he reverts back to his earlier form but his sickness overtakes him and after almost any attack he does, he starts coughing really badly so you can just wail on him. I hope they see this because skul needs to be seen by a lot more people it is so good and does not deserve to be overlooked.
